Microsoft Outlook 2010

 
    To add a new email account:
  1. Open your E-mail Client "Microsoft Outlook 2010"
  2. Go to "File > Info > Add Account"

  3. Click on "Manually configure server settings or additional server types", and click on "Next"

  4. Make sure "Internet E-mail" is checked, and click on "Next"

  5. Enter the following with your own information:
    • Your Name: John Smith
    • E-mail Address: jsmith@toughcountry.net
    • Incoming mail server (POP3): mail.toughcountry.net
    • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.toughcountry.net
    • User Name: jsmith@toughcountry.net
    • Password: Your email password
    • Remember password: Checked
    • Click "More Settings..."

  6. Click the "Outgoing Server" tab.
    a.) If you are configuring a toughcountry or jrtwave account:
    • My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication: Checked
    • Use same settings as my incoming mail server: Selected
    • Click "OK"

    b.) If you have a different incoming email account (eg. telus, shaw...):

    Fill in the following using a toughcountry or jrtwave email account and password.
    If you do not have one of those types of accounts, contact us.

    • My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication: Checked
    • Log on using: Selected
    • User Name: jsmith@toughcountry.net
    • Password: Your email password
    • Remember password: Checked
    • Click "OK"

  7. Click on "Advanced" tab on top::
    (Set SSL first before changing port numbers, as it will change the port when selected)
    • Incoming server (POP3): 995
    • This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) Checked
    • Outgoing server (SMTP): 465
    • Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL
    • Click "OK"

  8. Click "Next".

  9. This window will pop-up and test your email settings. If there are no errors, click on "Close".
    If there are errors, go here to check your settings.

  10. Click on "Finish".
